Uday Takke started his journey as a hairstylist, the traditional way - by working with and under seasoned
barbers.
His participation in the hair colour competition by Wella, Mumbai (1998) was a turning point. He gained
invaluable exposure to professional hair-dressing as a career. Soon after, he got a hang of the best
international practices and honed his skills by training with institutions abroad.
However it would be quite interesting to have a look at career graph of the dynamic and talented Mr. Uday
Takke.
With an artistic urge to create something of his own, Uday focussed on innovative hairstyles. His
strength lies in a unique fusion of styles. He combines western trends with his instinctive grasp of
Indian preferences. His folio showcases cool styles that sit well on desi heads and attitudes. They are
as easy to maintain as they are to flaunt!
An instance of Uday’s signature style is seen in the geometric haircut that flatters naturally thick dark
Indian hair. In 2005, he opened a second salon at Shivaji Park (Mumbai). With new salons at Lower Parel
(Mumbai) and Pune, many were sporting Uday’s distinctive styles.

P&G, Enzstyl, Star’s Cosmetics, Ikonic, Nouvelle colours and so forth.
Clients who trusted Uday would seek personal recommendations of haircare products. This inspired him to
launch a curated haircare range under the brand, UDAY TAKKE (2006). The brand is a success and highly
sought after.
Even while Uday made a name for himself as a hairdresser he is a mentor at heart. To this end, Uday
opened a training academy in 2000.
With an aspiration to penetrate the art of hairdressing at all levels of society, especially on grass
route level, he inclined towards medium of seminars and hands on workshops for mass to educate them about
the art and technique and fetch more skilled artists in the hair dressing industry.
